This Chocolate Duchesse Cherry was an aromatic mix of cherry & chocolate (as one might guess) draped like a thick mist over and descending into the base Duchesse with its sharp acetic/lactic vinous tartness, sweet toasted caramels, and bitter dusty woody tannins. Delicious, and great paired with some artisanal Belgian pralines, but I can’t help - I prefer a simple Duchesse. I tried one of these with my sister on Christmas Day, so I thought I’d have one on New Year’s Day as well... I’m a long time fan of Duchesse & Duchesse Cherry, & I’m now also a fan of Chocolate Duchesse Cherry. 🤤 You can taste the chocolate, & it rounds out the flavor a bit compared to the original & cherry variant. It’s less sour in comparison, but still an amazing beer. It didn’t last long after I opened it...
