And the crew is all here now
"From the East to the West" The Digimon based on the main characters of "Journey To the West", if they were humans and travelers. They're also in a polyamorous relationship:
Houzi (Gokuwmon): The muscle, fun-loving with a chill vibe. Cool with hanging around or being more active. He moves out of his parents house after they scold him for being too lax with his future. He's broke and hungry when he meets Kaiming, looking like she comes from a wealthy family, and begging for food-money. When his persistence bothers her, she threatens to toss him to the ground. His curiosity stroked, he challenges her. If he throws her on the ground first, she has to pay for a meal. She wins quickly by using his own weight against him, but he looks so pitiable, that she pays anyway and makes a deal: if he becomes her bodyguard (scaring away creeps with his size and muscles), she'll help him make enough money to feed himself at least. He thus, becomes her bodyguard, traveling companion and friend...and later, one of her partners.
Zhu (Cho-Hakkaimon): The wild child, dirty-minded con artist. She was abandoned by her parents at birth, and eventually ran away from the sweat she was forced into as a kid. She learned street smarts and got by on cons. Kaiming was one of her victims...until Kaiming showed her violent rage. Scared for her life, Zhu makes a deal: if Kaiming protects her Zhu, then Zhu wont call Kaiming's maternal family to let her know that her "journey of enlightenment" is just her spending her late father's formerly-hidden fortune to just travel and enjoy life. Kaiming reluctantly accepts and becomes Zhu's bodyguard, while Zhu shows Kaiming more freedom, wild nights and warms up to her enough to become another partner to her and Houzi, who she hooks up with first because their both two peas in a pod and get along immediately.
Kaiming (Sanzomon): The repressed daughter of Buddhist (mother) and a business tycoon (father). Her father left her mother before finding out that she was pregnant. Her mother turned to becoming a devout Buddhist and wanted her daughter to be the same. But Kaiming would become more interested in the things that a Buddhist isn't allowed to engage in after seeing how much fun it all looked (on the surface, at least). The more she was kept from it all, the more she wanted it all. When she receives the last will and testament of her late father (where he apologizes to her and her mother for not being their for either of them), she learns that he leaves his hidden fortune to her. Her mother refuses it, still bitter about him leaving them. Kaiming accepts the fortune in secret and lies to her mother, saying that she wants to go on a "journey of enlightenment" to "find herself" Her mother sends her off with a tearful smile, unaware that her daughter's on a journey that neither of them were prepared for: a journey of pleasure AND discovery.
Sago (Sagomon): The edgy bodyguard, a man of few words, with a mile-long death stare. Former gang member, Sago tried to mug Kaiming when she was isolated with no witnesses, unaware that he chose a decently dangerous martial artist who handed him his ass. On of his superiors followed him and secret to see if he could get the job done or fail again. Since he failed, he was taken away, telling Kaiming that he'll "turn him in to the authorities". But Kaiming doesn't trust the vibes coming off this guy and is scared for Sago after seeing him visibly terrified of the guy taking him away, and chooses to follow and eavesdrop. Sago is brought to to the gang and the boss, who beats Sago up before telling him that he needs to stop holding back if it's gonna keep him from getting results. Kaiming barges in to announce that she'll be taking them all to the authorities (disguised as to not let these dangerous criminals identify her and get to her through her family). She saves Sago's life and uses that to guilt him into sharing his story (the boss is his father, Sago witnessed his father finally kill a target that he was just trying to mug, and it affected how he does his muggings, upsetting his father). The police (who've been trying to tail the gang) finds their hideout and a shoot-out ensues, killing all the members but the father. He tries to shoot Kaiming dead, but Sago saves her (he eventually says it was to pay her back for saving him, but he no longer wants to be exposed to such violent deaths). When his father tries to shoot them both, giving up his son, the father is shot down by a police officer. To avoid being found out and forced back to her mother, the disguised Kaiming escapes, promising to save Sago. To his surprise, she keeps his promise and anonymously bails him out with a good chunk of her inherited fortune. Kaiming takes in Sago after introducing him to the others. He takes the longest to warm up to the group, but he does (partially through the aid of Yazi).
Yazi (Shawujinmon): The gentle-hearted enby who goes from timid coward to doting lover. They're the most recent member to join the group. The group dined at a restaurant were Yazi worked and become witnesses to their family drama: no friends, bullied for being non-binary, scolded by father for not standing up for themself more. Zhu and Houzi (in love with Yazi's cooking), eagerly begs Yazi to join them. Yazi disagreed...or at least they would have if their father didn't make them say 'yes', thinking that Yazi will gain more confidence from hanging out with these guys. Unfortunately, Yazi's too timid to challenge their fathers nonchalant-ness about letting them go off with a bunch of strangers. But fortunately, it ends up being the best decision they never made. They become stronger through training, smarter through Zhu and Sago's street smarts, and braver through all of them. They become the most comforting one of the group, especially with Sago when he needs to face his feelings regarding his late father.
After discovering themselves and each other, they continue traveling the world, practically nomads.
ChoHakkaimon's tamer gets concerned about her Digimon's missing torso costume piece and sews her one themselves. How would she react?
ChoHakkaimon's Tamer sewing her a middle piece for her costume
ChoHakkaimon is a pretty optimistic Digimon, she doesn't let much get to her really. And since she's usually pretty happily fed now that she's with a Tamer and they make her meals, they don't have to worry about her getting a little bit much, as she can get a bit out of control when she's hungry.
However, getting out of hand was never a concern for her Tamer when it came to her. No, it seemed her Tamer was much more concerned over the fact that, when it came to ChoHakkaimon's outfit, she didn't have a middle piece for it. Only having a headpiece and leg pieces.
So, her Tamer set to work on making a middle piece for her. Sure, maybe it wouldn't be made out of a strong material like what makes up the headpiece and legs... but her Tamer was determined. ChoHakkaimon just let her Tamer work in piece, since she knew that her Tamer had a knack for sitting down and sewing things often. So, she just ate the snacks that her Tamer bought her while she watched movies in her Tamer's home.
ChoHakkaimon actually lets out a loud squeal of joy when her Tamer presents her the piece. Why wouldn't she be excited? Her Tamer made her something to go with what she always wears! Of course she'd be ecstatic to receive something that was made with such care! She's sitting and praising her Tamer the entire time as they help her put it on, covering her torso perfectly.
Sure, it isn't made of the same code and data that the rest is made from, but honestly? ChoHakkaimon is just happy that her Tamer did something so thoughtful for her, and she can't stop sitting and thanking her Tamer - perhaps a little overly but she can't help it! She's so happy!
Now she has something that she can always look at to remind herself of her Tamer whenever they're apart for one reason or another. She definitely shows off to Digimon she has made friends with and can't help but gush over how cute it is that her Tamer made her something like this... It really made her day!
