The eve of the Fourth Great Ninja was Choji's last opportunity to talk to the redheaded girl who lived amongst the clouds, and when given the opportunity, he seized it.
Karui turned around. Who was bothering her at a time like this?
A tall, stocky guy with a shy grin held up his hand in a gesture of peace. She didn't recognize him from her division, wasn't sure how he'd ended up on this side of camp with the rest of the short-range fighters. Omoi paused to look back.
"I, uh, saw you around and, uh.... " He stammered. "And I just wanted to say....good luck out there!"
She was frozen in place. This was...
"Choji!" Someone was calling for him. She could tell by the way he turned around, knowing he was caught idling in another side of camp. And she now knew his name. Did he know hers?
He made a motion that he had to leave. As he did, she lingered on his words.
"You stay alive, okay?" and she smiled when she said it. And in that moment he knew, that whatever it took, he had to make it to the very end, just to see her smile once more.
