Had you noticed that nobody has even discussed the possibility of Chowder sleeping around or dating casually? He’s eighteen, hot, and throws himself wholeheartedly into everything…
It’s not that he’s being reckless, just that he doesn’t see why he should deny himself the pleasures of life for some Fucked up idea of modesty.
(On the other hand, imagine him having a string of short relationships. Imagine the first few are girls, and he never mentions it outright, but everyone figures out that she is his current girlfriend… But then he gets a boyfriend, and everyone’s CONVINCED he’s just a classmate and close friend… Until they kiss at a Kegster.)
Chowder in panel 8 is everything.
Chowder is wearing a blazer over a Sharks hoodie, and I thought it was impossible for him to be cuter.
... Right, but both Dex and Nursey asking Chowder out on the same day, and he runs to Bitty like “But I LIKE THEM BOTH! HOW DO I CHOOSE?”, and Bitty tries to console him, while Shitty is looking out of the kitchen window onto the lawn...
S: “You know... I think they like each other, too. They’re too stubborn to admit it, but... I mean, just look at this.”
And when Bitty looks out of the window, he spots the way Dex and Nursey let their eyes linger when the other isn’t watching.
B: “He’s right, Chowds... I don’t doubt how much they like you, but they both obviously have the hots for each other too.” C: “So... are you saying I should let them get together, and I find someone else?” S: “That’s... one option. But you like them both right? And they both like you? And they both like each other.” C: “... Yeah...” S: “Don’t you think it’s a little unfair that you should ‘have to’ choose? I mean, if you choose Dex, then Nursey is left out. If you choose Nursey, then Dex is left out. And if you choose to let those two get together, that leaves you out... Like, all three of you like each other. Why shouldn’t you all be able to be together?” C: *eyes widening* “Is that a thing that people do?”
And as Shitty explains polyamory to this baby frog, Bitty just watches as he lights up.
And Chowder just leaves the Haus with this big smile, and joins Nurse and Dex on the porch, and relays what Shitty told him, and then they all kiss and polyfrogs.
