Show #2: Supporting The Perch Creek Family Jug Band, Star Court Theatre, Lismore
I think I can proudly say that this was the best show The Button Collective had ever played. We were excited, fired up and chuffed to be supporting one of our favourite bands, so we played our hearts out! I was fairly sad to have snapped one of my 85A Vic Firth drum sticks, but the energy we had on stage was incredible! Even Ben broke a banjo string! These beautiful snaps are a relic of the night, which was a sold out event!
It's moments like these when I truly love what I do for a living!

Last month's session at The Coramba Hotel was incredibly fun, many of the locals were excited that we finally had the CDs on sale. Come and check us out today (6th April) from 3pm - 7pm in the beer garden. It's kid and dog friendly, bring a soccer ball and some friends, grab a copy of the album for $15, and have a beer or two with The Button Collective!

Ben Wilson was featured in two local newspapers today (27th March) - the Northern Rivers Echo and the Northern Star - to advertise the upcoming Young Songwriters Competition and the release of the Lonely One EP. Ben was the winner of the Best Male Songwriter category last year, his prize enabled us to record the Lonely One EP at SAE Institute in Byron Bay. The press is going crazy - brilliant!

ST PATRICK'S WEEKEND
I have a few gigs with THE BUTTON COLLECTIVE coming up over the St Patrick's Day weekend in the Coffs Harbour area:
Saturday, 15th March - Element Bar, Coffs Harbour
Sunday, 16th March - Coramba Hotel, Coramba. 3pm start.
Monday, 17th March - the Coffs Hotel, Coffs Harbour. 6pm start.
It's going to be crazy fun, cannot wait to see many old friends again!

I played a gig with The Button Collective last Friday (7th Feb, 2014) at a small sailor themed pub in Redfern, called The Angry Pirate. We played 3 sets of drunken sea shanties mixed with stripped back renditions of our original music, all the while tossing back pints from the selection of Young Henry's and Grifter craft beers the venue has on tap. I have begun to play standing up more frequently, something that was first inspired by Lear Hodgkins from The Perch Creek Family Jug Band - I do this only when space calls for a smaller, minimal drum set up.
Using only a snare, egg shaker, foot tambourine, and when the room allows, a kick drum, I have had quite the adventure in discovering how to utilize the different timbres of the snare - using both wire brushes and sticks - coupled with simple percussive elements to provide a rhythmic accompaniment similar to when I am playing with my full set up; that being said, I'm the type of girl who enjoys a challenge!

Here are some beautiful pictures of our performance last night at the Lismore Rose Garden's Band Rotunda. It was an absolutely stunning evening, and I'm very grateful for all who came out to share it with us! You've been good to me Lismore, I'll cherish memories like this from our time together. Farewell, old friend.
