chrysochlorousink answered your question: So, question. If there is a transman character who...
I’m neither cis or het, but I think it would probably depend on how often you say ‘he’ and ‘him’ vs. how often you describe his looks.
I don't describe his looks more than (This is an approximation 'lighter shade of brown than me [the narrator, an AfroCubana girl], with full lips and bright eyes, curly black hair, wearing a hat.'
Once or twice, if they hook up like I think they will, and they make out, she might mention that he's curvier than her, but IDK. (She'd have these thoughts, but IDK if it's okay to verbalize them in my book.)
(We've never spoken but I had to join the Discworld discussion) I never even considered Vimes as the next Patrician but I don't see it. I think that Carrot would be the next ruler. I mean, Vetinari didn't even seem all that against the idea in Men at Arms, and that was when he (Vetinari) was still alive. As for Moist, I don't think he has the temperament to lead anything. He takes too many risks, and while they almost always pay off I don't think it's the attitude Vetinari would want in a leader
(a discworld discussion is the PERFECT PLACE to start talking to me though! :D)
see this is why i agree with the idea of vetinari making himself redundant
nobody else is right for the job
vimes wouldn't because vimes
moist would but he'd treat it like a game and possibly accidentally start a war
carrot is also wrong, i think. i mean he's charismatic and he's everyone's pal and yes, he is intelligent - we've been shown before that there's a lot going on under that chiseled exterior - but he lacks the corkscrew thinking and the cold calculation, if you get me. he would look good on a coin, though.
chrysochlorousink replied to your post: I really like your selkie story. I especially love the casual inclusiveness. My favorite thing about it is that I can't tell whether your character is a selkie or not; a lot of stories a really predictable, but not yours. I did notice that there were a few times that you slipped up and it didn't sound like a kid speaking. I don't think a 10-year-old would start an essay with a definition, and there were a few other phrases that didn't quite fit.
The “characters like me” part is exactly why I liked it. Also, if she learned to write essays like I did, it would be something like “Selkies are mythical animals. They are seals who can turn into people.” We weren’t taught to quote, just to rephrase
That's a good plan.
And the characters like me is why I included so many people.
Sylvia is assumed to be AfroCubana by foster care, Misha's family is Cuban, Rich is black, Mrs Chau is Chinese. Harper is biracial and GF. Eventual character will be a Brazilian transboy. I just wanted people like the people I know.

How would she start it? Also, the casual inclusiveness is going to get handwaved, but I just rly wanted a story where the characters were like me and my friends.
And I wanted whether she was or not unclear. So I'm glad I did that well.
chrysochlorousink replied to your post: I just had a thought.
Any particular reason, or just for the sake of representation? (which I would be totally fine with, btw)
IDK why. Maybe because I don't think we've seen him flirt with a person. And I have no Garth ships outside of Garth/happiness.

oh dear
If you could, that would be great, thanks.
No problem, sweetie :)
Well, the first person that automatically comes to mind is sirpcapaldi. She has plenty of themes to choose from, and I’m using theme 15 of hers right now :) another person who makes lovely themes is fragileclara. zeldathemes has some fandom inspired themes (I used the pokéball theme for a good amount of time), and zuvia both makes and recommends lovely themes as well!
Hope you’re able to find one you like!
