Spoilers for the Finale of Echo and the final suit

It really needs to be talked about since non native people who don't know much about beadwork. But Maya's suit doesn't have just one but SIX beaded pieces and that's just on the shoulders. Beadwork is very time consuming delicate work let alone with that much intricacy. It's expensive for high quality beads and for all that man power spent creating and laying down every bead. Edging it and on likely high quality hide backing.

Making that kind of piece requires so much time and money. (Not that pokni really cared about money likely but how much you spend into something like this as a gift for somebody means a lot getting beading supplies isnt always easy but she used to have a store). She's incredibly skilled so it took her less time to make it all in what's assumed is maybe a few days which is just absolutely insane. Unless this was a secret project of hers for much longer.

But the point is every single stitch, bead and handmade leather?????? Every single bit of that is love. It's the generations of technique passed down in her hands. It's reflection of her soul filled with dedication and all good intentions. The intentions you put into beadwork or anything is very very important.

At least for me as Cree and my Dene friends whenever they are having bad days or bad thoughts they stop whatever they are making because that kind of energy shouldn't go towards the piece. Beading and creating is healing and meditation. It's creating the colors we cover ourselves with for sacred traditional things and how we show the world who we are.

It can't be understated just how incredibly beautiful and utterly full of specifically indigenous love that suit has. And I haven't even taken time to take in every single piece yet. It's a beautiful suit and even a non native person will be moved. But it's important to know as a native person seeing those SIX pieces moved me to tears
