Turning for home in the 1999 Kentucky Derby
See that little chestnut to the left with the white bridle? That's our winner, Charismatic.

Walk to the Winner's Circle
A magnificent thoroughbred walks with quiet confidence through the stable area, surrounded by the timeless atmosphere of race day preparation. Warm golden light, expressive brushwork, and refined textures highlight the elegance, strength, and calm focus of a champion before the excitement of competition unfolds. Rather than capturing the race itself, this original horse racing painting celebrates the traditions behind thoroughbred racing, honoring the connection between horse, handler, and the sport's enduring heritage. Perfect for horse racing enthusiasts, equestrian art collectors, trainers, and anyone seeking sophisticated canvas wall art inspired by the beauty of the racetrack. In honor of Johnny while in Kentucky for Louder than Life, we went to Churchill Downs, my steel balls were running like crazy
It’s Derby Day! 🏇
The race hasn't even started yet, and there has already been plenty of excitement: Four scratches (including top contender The Puma this morning), rumors swirling of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce attending as part owners of The Puma, and favorites Renegade and Further Ado drawing unlucky post positions one and 17, respectively! (No horse has ever won from post 17!) But the weather is staying calm and dry, so get ready for a fast track! 🐎💨
I put on a saddle and Brunhilda hopped on my shell to join in the excitement! Out of the current favorites, we are rooting for the joyously named So Happy, but we will also be keeping an eye on Further Ado (who has the fastest top-end speed and great closing speed), Renegade (whose jockey reportedly chose him over Further Ado and Commandment), and Commandment (coming off four wins in a row, but can he keep up with the Derby distance?)! 🐎🐢🦕
