2025/11/12—16: A short report from Cinanima Espinho festival:
Go see Pelikan Blue (2023, László Csáki, 79’) whenever you have an opportunity! Animated documentary about a group of friends with a strong desire to travel abroad from a freshly open-bordered post-Soviet 90's Hungary — train ticket forgery pictured with love.
Cinanima 25 appreciated the work of Jiří Gráf & NAPA Records on HURIKÁN with the Best Sound Design award! Congrats!
We got the best accomodation (ever?) from the festival — whole apartment on 4th floor of Hotel Solverde, a bit aged but very functional, with fully equipped kitchen and an ocean view. Winds were beating strong against the windows, it rained a LOT.
And needles to say Centro Multimeios de Espinho architects have done a successful job of protecting their building from visitors getting in on rainy days safely — using wooden ramps which turn to perfect slides — combined with handrails that are too wide to grasp with a human hand. Very effective!
Had grilled bream (dourada) and sardines at Casa Locas. One of the best fish restaurants we've been to in Portugal so far.
