saw evil dead rising and the movie trailers they played were horrible. also the movie felt pro-lifey... why are you a 30 sth guitar tech in LA stressed about pregnancy... abort that shit
Saw The Woman King last night....I found it weirdly hollow. The Marvel form has really infected all of cinema it looks like. Origin stories, training montages, two armies running at each other and then clashing as the music drops out, a Big Bad... That the characters are Black women this time is good for representation but their values are essentially indistinguishable from the usual cgi spandex superheroes. The details change but the format remains the same. We glory in the training of workaholic professional murderers who do not have time for silly trivial things like having a life. It is taken as given that the greatest thing to aspire to, and the solution to all problems, is violence.
