it was always so strange when a child walked up to it out-of-costume; most kids would take a look at the skeletal frame and scream, or in some instances cry. Perhaps the few that didn’t fear it just… never saw a reason to, or didn’t have the same reaction to the uncanny valley. In any case, this little one seemed to be one of the latter, walking right up to it and waving as one would any other person.

w- w- w- well, hello little one,

the Mimic said, crouching down and falling back on some of the stage-programming its creator had wired into it.

I’m sorry, I’m not in costume right now… are you lost? Or…

oh! One of Mr Afton’s kids, aren’t ya? Lizzie, right? Your father letting you explore a bit while he deals with some of the circus members?

A pair of eyes watched M2 carefully from behind a pair of shades. Analyzing as many details as they could.

it was one of the few times it had been allowed out of the Circus; a decent disguise had been fashioned out of an old hooded cloak and a bit of borrowed wax. It would be hard to clean out of its servos later, but the machine had seemingly deemed it worth it for this particular outing. Odd, given that it wasn’t doing much other than being a vaguely unsettling annoyance to the general populace. A little too tall, an odd gait… it attracted more than a few stares. If it weren’t for the shine of the wax that had been mushed on poorly-hidden metal joints, someone might assume it was just some tall guy with a limp.

As of now, it had been following some poor soul for a while… someone who noticed the sheer oddness of its form and was clearly spooked enough to try to avoid it… and therefor spooked enough to be considered prey for the Circus.

it had fallen into quite the routine. for an animatronic originating from utah, it knew these streets well. It knew what it was doing to this poor, condemned sap… it seemed to be enjoying it, almost… or as much as a being who’s brain is made solely of servos could enjoy much of anything… it had definitely learned some of these behaviors from the other members of the Circus.

…it seemed aware that even as it was following this man, it too was being followed by something… and seemed to be putting up a more interesting, convincing act for whoever was watching it. Best not to let a performance go to waste…

opinions on Nikola? How she is as a Stranger, as the ringleader, just… in general, what do you think of it?

Its LED eyes dimmed slightly at the mention of the ringleader, a soft mechanical whirr like an exhale leaving its voicebox. It was trying to mimic the way a human’s eyes softened when thinking about something they were familiar with.

Nikola… well. She certainly is something. I can’t quite pinpoint a specific opinion about her, and the ones I do have are often conflicting. She’s been a- a- a- active far longer than I have, yet possesses this sort of… childlike personality, halfway between a mother and her son. The way her mind flits from thing to thing like a hummingbird’s… it’s so different from my own programming, and it’s always about a 50/50 o- o- on whether that is a good thing or not. She rarely waits for things, she’s always acting far bolder than she really seems to feel, she’s always hasn’t tried to change or upgrade her form since the early 1900s as far as I can tell… yet she holds herself with such purpose, and despite her inability to comprehend patience in any form, she’s quite the competent leader.

she has… emotion, to her. Real, emotional connection to the troupe. A trait I find quite admirable, though for whatever reason she tried to hide it. She has the experience of being truly human, whereas I’ve never been anything but this. It’s… fascinating. I might even be jealous, if I had the ability to feel. But I don’t. Not really, anywho.

I think there are some things Nikola does wrong, but for the most part she’s what the troupe needs. I see her as a friend, I suppose. A little jumpy, prone to jumping straight into things, but with both purpose and emotion which I do not have. I don’t see anyone else running the Circus of the Other, to be honest.

meet the Mimic! they've somehow managed to gain access to the internet, which can only end poorly. and with that apparently it also gained access to the fucking multiverse, because i actually created this account to interact with a Nikola Orsinov account lmao. anywho, this is probably somewhat inaccurate to in-game lore, and it certainly isnt a canon TMA character, so huge un-reality and un-canon warnings for this blog. feel free to ask M2 anything you want while you're here!

it was still waiting for @ask-nikolaorsinov to find some sort of adhesive for the prosthetic finger when something from it’s hand fell to the ground. What the…

it was another one of the fingers. although the bone seemed to stay intact, the flesh seemed to have melted clean off, leaving a reddish-pink puddle on the floor that evaporated within seconds.

now, M-2 wasn’t exactly an expert on humanity, but it was quite sure that was not supposed to happen. Or… keep happening for that matter; its hand was somehow both melting and evaporating. Was this… what was this?! What in the world was happening?! This didn’t-

a metallic sheen caught its eye before more warning thoughts were shot through its mind. Metal… oh. Oh it was changing back, wasn’t it? Hmm. Alright, that was a good thing actually, though from previous experience, it was pretty flesh melting off was supposed to hurt in some way. Oh well. It wasn’t complaining. That complete override of senses would’ve been incredibly annoying to deal with…

Skin and tendons and veins oozed away to reveal the pneumatic pistons and wires that made up its frame, the white of bone wiping off like chalk. Its claw hand reformed with a small scratch on it, from where the Mimic had bitten itself as a test, and the other hand’s finger was, obviously, disconnected. Though funny enough, the finger it had let Nikola cut off hadn’t changed back. It just stayed like that. Hmm. Looks like the prosthetic would be of some use after all then.

To be honest, it was like watching some sort of cheesy horror movie, though with better effects. Everyone knew flesh didn’t do that, but here we were, watching meat and skin drip away like jelly to reveal cold steel and an adjustable frame. One which immediately went back to its preferred height, adding to the spectacle.

the fully-un-humaned Mimic bent down, picking up the prosthetic and carefully clipping it back onto the hand missing its finger, rings of orange LEDs staring like headlights at Nikola.

well. That was… unpleasant. Though I do think recreating it for one of the acts would be q- Q- quite interesting? The skin-melting thing, of course, not the whole rodeo.

the mimic is toy soldier (the mechs) coded in this essay I will-

Toy Soldier coded? I don’t think I have any code of that nature…? I could have someone add that code if they know it, but I don’t currently have any code labeled ‘Toy Soldier’. Actually, if you know how to, you could add that code if you like!

It’ll have to look up the Mechs at some point, they seem quite interesting, especially if they have another entity coded similarly to itself. The Mimic really hasn’t seen any others like it, even among the Strangers.
