Enjoying the sunset at Porto, Portugal

One of my favorite things to do in Porto is to watch the sunset. When the day is clear, there are a few options of places to enjoy this time of the day.

Jardim do Morro

My favorite as it was close to the hostel where I worked. It's also very nice to cross the river during the golden hour. The view from the city is astonishing. You have the river with the boats passing by, and the building on the hill, with the seagulls in the background. The seagulls sound is one of my favorite things in Porto!

Jardim das Virtudes

As the garden is pretty big and with a different entrance, the best thing to do is to look on the map for “Musa Virtudes”, it’s a brewery near the miradouro. There are also other bars nearby, so you can have a drink while watching the sunset, or just bring your own food and have a picnic.

Passeio da Fontainhas

Buy some drinks and food at the nearest market and walk through this street to find a nice spot and watch the sunset from an unusual point of view.

Ribeira

A great place to go for a walk during the sunset. Just walk through the riverside watching people passing by or sit in one of the bars for a drink under the sun. There is often some group playing live music and the place gets crowded during weekends. You can combine it with a walk on the other side of the river, in Vila Nova de Gaia. Just cross the bridge by its lower walkway. There is a bar called "Bar Soares" where you can find a "Porto Wine tasting" for 5 euros, with 5 different types of Porto Wine. It´s amazing!

Miradouro da Ignez

A bar with a river view, very pleasant lounge music, and an indoor ambient for the coldest rainy days.

Mirajazz

Another great bar by the river. There is always some Jazz playing, the prices are fair and the service is nice.

Guindalense Football Club

I have no idea why they call themselves a football club as they are a bar and they have nothing about the sport there. They have quite a nice view of the bridge though. They also have pretty cheap beer and food.

Daikiri Lounge bar (Vila Nova de Gaia)

If you are around Gaia, this beach club is really worth a visit. It has an inner part for the coldest days with a fantastic view of the beach and the sunset. The beverage is not that expensive for a beach club.

Leaving Denver county can be rough for me but when you leave so close to wheat ridge you just have to explore. . I wanted to check out a new spot called Bardo coffee. It’s off 38th and Harlan and has some pretty cool drinks that you can’t get anywhere else. . I ordered a Viennese, latte with half and half and fresh whipped cream topped with nutmeg.
