I honestly love the way you wrote Kavinsky and think he's such an interesting character. What do you think makes him different in CiYH ?
Hi nonnie!I’m really glad you like the way I write Kavinsky--he’s as interesting as he is difficult, you know? What makes him different, I think, is that I write him post-crisis, mid-recovery, nearly-relapsing, not-quite-over-Ronan, not-remotely-over-Proko, and coming to terms with all these things at the same time. He’s also coming to terms with the fact that, while he grossly looks down on Adam, he’s jealous of Adam (because Adam has Ronan in a way K never came close to) and resents Adam (who endured a vastly different yet equally damaging and less insidious kind of abuse than K did, and is arguably better adjusted and has “healthier” coping mechanisms). He’s learning a self-awareness that he didn’t have before and it’s painful but necessary, and that growth is also effecting how he’s becoming an effectively new person. He’s still got a long way to go, though.
