They’d stayed on the couch that night because Rayman had refused to move. The TV played more advertisements—including two reruns of that same commercial and one new one—before it finally shut itself off. It turns out, Doomsday comes with a sale on Cobra Juice. Bullfrog hadn’t said more than ten words after he got Rayman to stop heaving, not quite uncharacteristically quiet but bordering on it. When Rayman woke up, his eyes were crusted over with dried tears, and he’d had to rub them until they hurt before he could open them properly. Nothing he hasn’t dealt with before. Now he lay awake, staring at the impossibly high ceiling of his penthouse. Bullfrog was curled up on the couch beside him, close enough that Rayman’s hair brushed against his head whenever he turned to look at the blank screen of the television. It was light outside. It was tomorrow.

this is mostly to answer what Rei does all afternoon if he’s not at home or with one of the guys in the beginning months. He’s out hunting for a job! Sometimes he gets one! But the date for a shoot or whatever he’s doing gets pushed back, so he ends up trying to find more work anyways. He misses his old job that’s for sure…
