Fanfic asks: 6 and 8.
6. Is there any fic that makes you super embarrassed to reread and remember you wrote that?
Oh man, that’s a tough one. I mean, look, everyone is a newbie writer at some point and trying to figure out their voice and their style and what clicks, as well as the whole more mechanical aspect of ‘how do I dialogue’ and ‘epithets are bad always’ and ‘how not to exposition dump’, so I’m not embarrassed by any of my older stories, because I was still learning and growing and it’s cool to go back and see that growth. I mean, I’m still doing it, still learning and growing and figuring it all out, and I hope I never get there, because it’s all about the journey.
That being said, yes, there is one fic - thankfully NEVER posted anywhere - that I co-wrote a long time ago with a friend as sort of a stress release sort of thing that, oh my God, just thinking back on it makes me cringe. It was seriously problematic. But again, we thankfully were smart enough not to post it, and I’ve learned a lot since then about how to write with more awareness.
8. What’s the oldest (longest since last update) fic you most want to continue (unfinished or no)?
Um, well, I don’t actually start posting fics until I’ve finished at least a rough draft, so I don’t have any WIPs out there, in any fandom. That being said, Jo & I did have a pretty major arc we wanted to do in the Claimed series that we plotted and started to write, but then life happened and we never got around to finishing it, so we ended the series rather than post the new parts unfinished.
