For centuries the MacNeil clan based on the Hebridean island of Barra have proudly claimed to be descendants of Ireland's "greatest" King, Niall of the Nine Hostages. But a check on hundreds of modern day MacNeils has revealed their roots actually lie with the Vikings and not the Irish.
Oops. Have a lot of MacNeil friends. Hell, almost married one. Thought of looking for an appropriate Maury GIF, but then thought better of it. Still a proud clan.
Well this explains my DNA results. Vikings are cool. I'll take Vikings. I will arrive at the gates of Valhalla, shiny and chrome.

Based off the Gaelic "waulking" song "A Bhirlinn Bharrach (The Barra Galley)", "Kishmul's Galley" refers to Kishmul Castle in Barra, stronghold of Clan MacNeil. The song portrays the MacNeils, who were famous as sea-raiders, as Robin Hood-esque folk heroes returning from the sea.
