Yotsuba parody
Extremely random headcanons I have about some Big Waves players PT.1(?)
Starting with my favourite Aussies <3
David 'Water' Waterman
Waterman's dad is a descendant of the Wurundjeri people (First Nations people of the Woiwurrung language group, in the Kulin nation).
I also like to think that his dad is a well-known Aussie rules player who instilled a love for sports in him and his brother. So both David and his brother are kind of famous (at least to those into Aussie rules) since their father is a national sports personality.
They are also pretty well off, yet neither of them acts like it or lets it get to their heads.
For my own joy David plays the electric guitar and enjoys writing and singing songs as a hobby. He's also the designated eventual guitar player for campfires or barbecues.
He just strikes me as the kind of guy who's terribly lactose intolerant and yet always forgets about it until it's too late. He could be on his way to the hospital and realize only midway that the reason he's feeling like death warmed up is his lactose intolerance.
The whole team took on the impossible task of reminding him whenever he gets a little toooo close to a dairy product (through friendly bullying of course).
Kraken keeps on himself those tablets to help to digest lactose at all times, (100% mom friend) because he swears it's like keeping an eye on a dog. He turns around for one second and David is already stuffing his mouth with every type of dairy product he can possibly get his hands on (don't worry it's not because he's planning to commit suicide by lactose, he just forgets 99% of the time).
Clark 'Kraken' Cain
Kraken is Chinese on his mother's side.
His parents mutually agreed to get divorced when he was little due to differences they couldn't work out.
Kraken lives with his mother and visits his father on the weekends.
David and Kraken have been best friends since they met in a local park as toddlers (I lowkey like to think their first-ever meeting went something like in this scene, with Waterman being the girl punching the other kid. Even the rest of the clip and the friendship dynamic between the two protagonists of this movie fits them well imo).
They both live in Melbourne, Victoria.
During their first year of primary school (1st Grade), Kraken was starting to fall victim to bullying due to his different features, the Chinese food he was bringing at lunch, etc. But by befriending David who was well-liked and quite popular among their classmates they managed to make them stop.
Conserving Australia's rare wildlife includes ensuring that his best friend (who's both wild and very much alive for now) doesn't ingest lethal doses of dairy by accident.
Where Water is extremely easy-going and trusting with people, Kraken remains a little wary and holds back from being too friendly right away, due to having been mistreated in school.
Alternative/Indie Aussie music brought this thing to life.
Enjoy (if you can).
It's ok David, as they say, "coaches don't play."
