Pro tip for anyone wanting to start with polymer clay: you really don’t need a lot of fancy tools. Sure, do they help as you get more into it and make more detailed pieces, of course! But if you’re just wondering what’s necessary as you’re starting out (and I’ve been there once- everyone has to start somewhere!), you really don’t need much! I’ve gotten a bunch of my friends into starting with clay and all we really needed was the clay! Maybe i’ll follow this up with a more comprehensive list of basic tools around the house that you can use when you don’t have any tools/don’t want to buy tools, but the best basic tool in my opinion is a TOOTHPICK! It’s so versatile- for blending, shaping, detailing, dotting, and more! I made all these pieces here with just my hands and a toothpick.
