@siyuki1234 @ask-the-royal-absol @stratomod (WIP), I'm not sure if you received this in your emails, but I did and thought it was worth sharing.
To everyone who has recently found True North Aid, thank you. Over the past few days, we have been humbled by the incredible outpouring of support for community members affected by the wildfire evacuations. Because of your generosity, we have been able to quickly provide essential supplies and support to those who need it most, and begin to plan for longer term support. Our Executive Director, Lisa Mazzocato, was in Thunder Bay this week and met personally with donation coordinators, band office members, and evacuees themselves. Through your donations, True North Aid was able to immediately purchase requested supplies, distribute gift cards for families to shop for food and essentials, and really listen and learn so that support can continue. We are working with Lakehead University in Thunder Bay as well, to help support last minute, drop-in youth camps for displaced families. These will be provided free of charge and include transportation, food and necessities for camp - thanks to your donations at work. This will not be short-term support. Your donations mean that True North Aid will continue to be there for communities, beyond immediate relief, and long after the headlines fade. Rebuilding will take many months, and your donations ensure that True North Aid will be able to help. If you are new here, welcome. True North Aid is a Canadian registered charity that works alongside northern and remote Indigenous communities, providing essential supplies and support for community-led initiatives throughout the year. Everything we do begins by listening. We work with communities and trusted local partners to understand what is most needed, then provide community-driven, responsive support. Because these relationships have been built over many years, we can respond quickly in times of crisis while remaining committed long after the headlines have faded. As communities recover, we will continue to stand alongside them, providing support where it is needed most. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for standing with Indigenous communities. And thank you for becoming part of the True North Aid community. We're so grateful you're here!
