So this is in fact about one of my all time favourite sci-fi novels and I want everybody to watch the movie adaption while I'm way too depressed to feel anything but indifferent about it. Please. The story is incredible. I can imagine the movie adaptation with Ryan Gosling is going to be, too. I'm going to make myself go see it and hopefully that'll be enough to make me as excited about the movie as I was about the book.
My dad reads one book a year, in his 10 day vacation while the family is asleep, because he's always up very early. He doesn't really care about books. But Project Hail Mary made him love these early morning hours, just coffee and a couple dozens of pages. And afterwards, while he told me about how much he loved it and I wasn't quite certain he did, because he usually doesn't care about books, he stuck to calling my family's lawn mower (which had to be named) by the name of the alien, just because they shared the same number of legs/shears. This is ongoing. My sister and mother and grandpa keep disagreeing, but for him and me, the lawnmower is called Rocky. I love my family. I wish I was less depressed because seeing something that valuable, that dear to pass without giving a fuck is awful. But yeah, Project Hail Mary. I know, when I can, I love it deeply.
