Addendum
The bottom line to my previous post is that the contemporary culture wars between Yuppie leftists/progressives and the mainstream/middle class/working class/flyover country, at least as far as it exists via internet content, are really just an offshoot of a new business development scheme whereby passive democratic content (opinions) is monetized for the sake of scalability and advertising revenue. In other words, the (largely one-sided) political debates that exist within the general discourse are simply a function of an accelerated, fully mechanized capitalism. Have fun with that one, leftists.
P.S.
Notice how carles article listed the Ferguson brouhaha in the netstream (i.e. wholly artificial) category. I know a lot of people on Tumblr view the Michael Brown case an example of authentic anti-authoritarianism and "speaking truth to power" and perhaps they have a point but... oh shit.
