Nirayana Longitude of Planets
The Nirayana Longitude of planets refers to their position in a chart based on the Sidereal zodiac system. The chart is divided into 12 houses, with each house spanning 30 degrees and forming a 360-degree circle. The Nirayana Longitude determines the position of a planet within a specific house at a given time. This calculation is based on fixed points of the Nakshatras, or star constellations. In contrast, the Tropical zodiac system uses the Sun as the fixed point for determining planetary positions, which is known as the Sayana Longitude. The difference between the Nirayana and Sayana Longitude is called the Ayanamsa and represents the separation between the two zodiac systems. Vedic astrology primarily employs the Nirayana system for making predictions.
