iorveth has 3 main stages of his living situation
the first was before he joined the scoia'tael. he had a little three room house by the edge of the forest, right where he could have privacy from hunters and still shoot a few rabbits without going far.
he had a little living area with some pillows on the floor by the hearth, and kept plants he grew himself by the windows
there was a little kitchen in the back, always filled with herbs and spices that made the entire house smell nice
iorveth wouldn't necessarily call himself sentimental, but there are a few things he really needs to have to feel safe.
namely his bow, a blanket he received as a gift, and the tea kettle that made the most delicious tea he'd ever had.
iorveth really loved making his living space his, although this became a luxury after that home was burned to the ground by a human mob.
the second place was his cave in the woods near flotsam. he couldn't have the same comfort as before, but could keep some things the same.
namely the way he slept right in the warm spot right between the fire and the wall and all the stuff he refused to throw out
iorveth claims to hate clutter, but does tend to collect random shit
it's not clutter if it has a purpose!
besides, isn't it better to have a few extra things you don't need than to realize you got rid of something necessary?
that being said, he would never keep anything that places fashion over function. each one of the thirty-seven jars he owns has a distinct purpose and fulfil that purpose better than anything else could.
his third home was with vernon fucking roche in vergen. of course living with the ex blue stripes commander was surprising change, but so were a lot of the new behaviours he adopted with peacetime life.
he finally stopped hoarding food and weapons in case of disaster and allowed himself to keep personal belongings, the kind that he was previously afraid could be used to blackmail him
he even started to sleep without barricading the door every night
just seeing the stars through a skylight and feeling the warm human next to him was more than enough to be safe.
