I took the pledge to be a #ClimateVoter, now it's your turn 🌱
Tomorrow is #supertuesday ! Dear friends in AL, AK, CA, CO, MA, ME, MN, NC, OK, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, and American Samoa: please vote. I’m excited to cast my vote tomorrow for @berniesanders . Until recently I supported Elizabeth Warren, and while I still admire her I just don’t see a path forward for her campaign at this point based on all polling data. 🗳Ultimately what I want for the democratic party is a progressive candidate, especially someone who will take our climate crisis seriously. I am a #climatevoter , after all; this is the biggest issue of our lifetimes, and it requires bold action. If you agree with me on this then please consider supporting Bernie. He has been endorsed by the @sunrisemvmt , and has one of the most comprehensive plans to address the climate crisis. He refuses to take campaign donations from billionaires or oil companies, which means that he is beholden to neither. His ideas are not as radical as many would have you think. I admire what he stands for, and I think he’s the modern version of a New Deal Democrat, which is what we need today to help fix our country’s very problematic inequities. 🗳 At this point, especially after the recent dropouts, there is a lot more support set to move towards a candidate (Biden), who does not fare as well as Bernie does in all polls when stacked up against Trump. If Bernie does not secure the nomination then the likeliest outcome will be a contested convention (look it up!), which will lead to a candidate that nobody is happy with, and all of the momentum of the primaries will be lost. This truly feels like a fast-track to a second term for Trump, which benefits no one, especially our planet and our children. 🗳 If you’ve read this far, then thank you. I know that this choice can be emotional, and you may feel differently than I do. If you also support Warren then it’s time to consider the polling data and evaluate where the momentum is. Please think of how much Bernie has ignited and energized the young voters of our country, and reflect on where that got us back in 2008. And please imagine what the consequences of a contested convention might be. Above all: please vote tomorrow, and in November. https://www.instagram.com/p/B9P4aF3n5t2/?igshid=1wywpq65zqslp
Who else is watching the democratic debate tonight?? I know that there’s a lot to talk about (im🍑!), but I’ll be listening specifically for what the candidates have to say about climate policy. #climatevoter patches available through the link in bio. $2 from the sale of each patch is donated to @sunrisemvmt . . . . . . . . #democracy #vote #democraticdebate #climatecrisis https://www.instagram.com/p/B3p62xoHScd/?igshid=37jxvlgvllzc
I’m a climate voter. Are you? 🗳🌍 If you are a climate voter then you are committed to voting across the board for candidates who present bold, ambitious plans for how to approach the climate crisis in a way that will actually have an impact. I don’t want any of that “100% clean energy by 2050” vapidity - that’s weak tea and according to climate scientists we don’t have that kind of time (yes, I’m talking about your climate plan here, @joebiden ). 📚 I’ve been building my own awareness of the climate crisis since 2015, and sadly my level of despair has grown apace with my knowledge of the issue. Recent weeks have given me a glimmer of hope, though. @gretathunberg is an inspiration and it’s been incredible to see the younger generations standing up alongside her and making themselves heard. They will be the ones bearing the brunt of the prior generations’ inaction, after all, and I’m proud of them for trying to open everyone’s eyes. 🔥 When I read some of the young climate activists’ statements there was a common thread of frustration: they’re too young to vote, so they feel they can’t have as much of a real impact on turning around the climate crisis. Well, I’m voting for what they stand for, and I made a patch to show it. If you want one of your own then head on over to my print shop or my Etsy store through the link in my bio. They ship for free, and come with a little sheet of other ideas for how to engage with the climate crisis. I’m selling them for $6, and am donating $2 from each patch purchased to The Sunrise Movement, @sunrisemvmt , an organization led by young people working to inspire action on this issue. 🌞 Relatedly, I want to say that I’m excited to support @elizabethwarren in her presidential campaign. Her climate plan is comprehensive and realistic in its scope of the kind of work that needs to be done. I look forward to casting my vote for other climate crisis aware candidates down the ballot in 2020. 🗳 #climatevoter #climatecrisis #fridaysforfuture #climateactionnow #climatechange #patch #sewonpatch #climatechangeactivism https://www.instagram.com/p/B3XwrgWH6wE/?igshid=30thzo6p06m8
Climate Change
Our global clinate is in serious danger. With the ever growing use of none renewable resources causing temperatures to rise, glaciers to melt, and is endangering many species of plants and animals that are losing their homes to the heat. Still, too many ignore this and claim that climate change does not exist. We must dedicate ourselves to fighting for our cause and proving to the world that this is a real problem! I pledge to help change our future for the better by acknowledging the truth of climate change and actively making a difference in our world.
Deborah is in a tight race and with our help she can win. #flipthesenate #climatevoter #climatechange #climate #takebackthesenate Thanks @sierraclub for pulling this together. Vote for @deborahrossnc
