hey folks, horrible research news: while i was working on a primer that i've been getting slow work done on, i realized i should probably process my entertain me clips since they've just been sitting and gathering dust in my backlog for a few months now.
well, i opened shitchamp and they're forcing all users to save all of their video projects to onedrive (microsoft's icloud). if you try to ask the UI to choose a specific folder to save videos in, the UI refuses to let you switch and will infinitely buffer until you hit the "continue" button. i have no idea how to undo this, and users are very evidently pissed.
i don't know why microshit would shoot their already dogshit editing software in the foot like this, but they have. i don't know jack shit about onedrive, so i've tried to avoid it as much as humanly possible. i'm also seeing reddit reports that trying to use shitchamp WITHOUT onedrive is leading to corrupted videos, so even if i do figure out a way to revert this update's impact it might permanently fuck up my videos. fun. i'm also seeing reports that attempts to transfer the videos that were synced to onedrive back to local storage result in the videos being deleted! awesome (sarcasm)!
problem is that as ass backwards shitchamp is, it was simple and intuitive. i'm not really sure what alternatives out there will be easy for me to pick up since anything that looks like this tends to intimidate me far too much:

it's looking a lot like even if i found a way to put all of my videos back onto local storage, i would still have to manually ensure that every single video i edit from this point on exports locally onto my computer and IT'LL STILL SAVE IT ON ONEDRIVE ANYWAYS???
this is actually so bewilderingly ass i have to believe an AI made this dogshit decision. i cannot believe a living human brain came up with this update idea for any reason other than utterly idiotic levels of corporate greed. microslop is flailing in the market as their relentless investment into AI slop fucks them over and their solution is to double down and alienate already loyal, paying users of onedrive.
