My TS4 character, Cloud Banks, is now in the interior design career because she got tired (read: I got tired) of doing nothing but painting, gardening, and looking after pets and livestock all day. Her cow Clover has passed of old age, as have all but one of her chickens since I stopped incubating a new egg daily. She has three dogs (Gemma Lou, Tusker, and their puppy Rolf) and three cats (Nadja, Samwise, and their kitten Kareen) and might have a kid once I start to get tired of the new career (probably not any time soon).
She’s done about 8-9 renovations now, with only one failure, and the above composite screenshot is of her most recent (and one of my favourite so far). Kid’s bedroom renovation in a house packed to the gills with mutiple adults, YAs, and teens, and just the one child. She likes grey (which one of the bedrooms already was), and among the otherwise useless information other household members told me (they like fitness and fishing) someone also mentioned gardening, so I figured I’d keep the bedroom in a grey range of colours and stick in some plant decor as well.
The bedroom is only 3x3 tiles, my smallest space to decorate yet (though my first job I built a two child bedroom in a 4x4, also a lot of fun) and started with just a bed, a bookshelf, and a lot of art decor items in it; in other words, functional for sleeping in and pretty much nothing else (which is better than the 4x4, which had a garden plot and a crate). I switched out the bed for an upper bunk, which allowed me to tuck a 1-tile desk under it, and used the modular furniture set to put together a clothes hanging thing on the opposite wall, with some books and plant decor and a toy. A bigger toy on the floor, plus some decor items tucked in around the desk with moveobjects, and the bedroom went from spartan to reasonably attractie and actually functional for sleep, study, and play. The clients loved it, as did I (though I had to fight off my impulse to use brighter colours) :)
Also, I kind of adore this career so far. I really enjoy building and decorating places for sims, so I can happily do design job after design job. See also: why I probably won’t ever buy Get Famous or Get Together, because they would require my sim to socialize with other sims, and I can only take that in very small doses.
