Fall Leaf Special
This excursion train was designed for both leaf-peepers and rail enthusiasts. When the image was made, the train had just successfully negotiated “the loops” west of Old Fort, North Carolina, and is seen crossing Mill Creek as it rolled into that small town.
The lead locomotive is an FP7A that was built in 1950 as CNOTP 6133. As I understand it, the Cincinnati, New Orleans and Texas Pacific Railway was a subsidiary of the Southern Railway.
