Irish Coastline...don’t miss out
If asked to describe the Irish coastline in one word, I’d quickly say BREATHTAKING.
Last weekend has been in the works for quite some time and now that it has passed, I think I already need to plan another trip. I was lucky enough to have a friend volunteer to join me on this adventure, allowing me to take in the scenery from a car. Curving and winding along, up the mountains, through the back roads, stopping to capture the view as we pleased.
The trip was filled with chatting, oohs & ahhhs, a few pints and lots of laughs. The first stop was Schull, West County Cork where we decided to upgrade to the recently remodeled hotel with a sea view! We dropped out bags and made our way to Crookhaven, a tiny coastal town just big enough for a few pubs and a small convenience store.
As the chill hit the air, we decided to head on back to Schull for delicious fish & chips near the marina followed by divine crepes. I can’t help but share pictures of the delectable food.
The next day, we took off en route to Dingle in County Kerry. Along the way, we made a number of stops to take in the culture surrounding us. A stroll around Banta, Kenmare, lunch & shopping in Killarney and photos at a rainy Inch beach.
It was lashing rain upon our arrival in Dingle, but the beauty of the B&B we’d booked made up for it. One look out of the sliding glass doors and I was hooked, looking forward to the view in the morning sun.
We then made our way to town and took in a few local pubs, a couple pints, a stag party and met a couple from Iowa, of all places. The next day, the sun made a welcome appearance and we were able to take in a drive along the Dingle Peninsula. The drive was filled with photo opps and moments of breathtaking beauty.
Just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, we got to see the harbor from a boat. Enjoying the breeze on our face, a little Irish history and a view of the local dolphin, Fungi.
I would say this blog has more photos than words but I just couldn’t help myself. I have to end by saying if you ever get the chance to visit Ireland, don’t miss out on the coast!
