Coconut Oil Toothpaste
Combining the powerful cleansing strength of coconut oil with the cooling & healing essence of peppermint makes this beauty ritual essential to your arsenal. The concoction is simple to make & store. It will leave your teeth & mouth feeling refreshed after every use.
You will need:
1 pot for heating water on the stove
1 heat proof glass bowl to fit inside the pot
Half cup of coconut oil
30 drops of peppermint essential oil
1 amber or cobalt glass bottle with cap
Preparation: Put stove top on medium setting. Fill the pot with enough water to almost completely surround the glass heat proof bowl. Make sure you do not get any water inside the bowl, you will be using that for the oil. Put the coconut oil inside the glass bowl. If you do not have enough room for all the oil it is OK. Place the glass bowl inside the heated water. Careful not to get any water in that oil! As the coconut oil turns from solid to liquid you can add more coconut oil if you wish. Once all of the coconut oil is liquefied remove it from the hot water. You might want to use tongs because the glass might be very hot! Once removed from the heat you can add the peppermint oil. Swirl the oils around the bowl without using any utensils & do it gently so no bubbles appear. Once the oils seem combined pour the mixture into the amber/cobalt bottle, cap & store in a cool area.
Usage & Storage: Use a spoon to get small amounts out & then spread it on your tooth brush. Brush as you normally would. To keep sterile use a clean spoon every time you want to scoop some out. If the mixture becomes liquid again get it to a cooler area & it will solidify once more.
