Mm there’s a lot of used/limited edition figures sold in stores all around Akihabara, if you can't find it at Otakon I wouldn’t worry too much I snagged stuff from older comikets and promos there. Costs 1/2 to 1/4 the price you can get at a con too

Senpai do you have any recommendations for shoujo anime? I've watched Say "I love You" and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, but that's about it.

I'm more on the shonen end of the spectrum, but from what i've seen I'd recommend: Kimi Ni Todoke, Ouran High School Host Club or if you don't mind stepping up into Josei there's Usagi Drop and Princess Jellyfish.

Hey I'm that guy that was planning on doing a Japanese minor, but I wanted to start learning some basics this summer since I have some time. Do you have any online resources or books that you recommend utilizing? Should I learn the basics of hiragana, katakana, or kanji first?

All the Japanese I’ve learned so far has been in the classroom, so i’m not familiar with any online resources. For books, I’d recommend Genki 1 & 2: An integrated Course in Elementary Japanese. That’s the textbook we’ve been using in class and it’s pretty good. Explainations aren’t hard to understand and it provides plenty of examples and exercises

I would recommend learning Hiragana and Katakana first so you can start reading basic Japanese. Once your confident in those, then i’d start working on Kanji.

How long have you been taking Japanese? My current college doesn't offer it, but I plan on transferring to one that does my junior year and getting a Japanese minor.

Sweet! That’s awesome to hear. Actually an anon just asked the same thing. I’ve been studying Japanese for 1 year in high school (10th grade) + 2 years in college, going on 3 now. Good Luck on getting a minor!
