If I did something similar to someone supporting homosexual marriage or relationship, I would be labeled a bigot without question. But flip it around and it’s okay. That’s where the ignorance comes in.
I want to point something out to you. I have yet to call you ignorant, or put a name to any of your opinions. So, abstain from ever calling me or my opinions ignorant ever again. I am not doing it to you, so return the courtesy.
Because my opinions are not ignorant. Do you know that people do not read the bible, because they don't agree with it? Do you know that people do not read Mein Kampf, because they do not agree with it. Do you know that people don't read Twilight, because they don't agree with it? Do you know that people don't read The DaVinci Code, and don't agree with it? Do you know that people do not watch Ellen, because they don't agree with her? Do you know that people don't watch MTV, because they don't agree with it.
We are not talking about someone who simply does not support gay marriage. This person takes the money he makes from his books and actively tries to prevent gay marriage. Actively tries to marginalize gay people. Actually goes against people's rights.
So, absolutely not I will not give my money to someone who is going to take his earnings and put it toward something that I disagree with to my core.
Also, do you know the difference between me and Orson Scott Card? I'll tell you. I don't hate him. Me not reading his book....it is not hurting him. Like at all. Me and my little blog is not even a blip on dudes rador. What Orson Scott Card does, hurts people. It doesn't matter if you believe in gay marriage or not. You understand that when you actively prevent someone from marrying the person they love you are hurting them. Correct?
One last thing, I am a lobbyist. I go to Washington D.C and I say I believe in equality. I say down with Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
And, I have every right to decide to avoid someone who is on the opposite side as me. This is just the truth of life. If someone is racist, I am not going to their fucking concert. If someone is a misogynist I am not buying clothes at their store. I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO STAND UP FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IN. I DO.
I have every right to pick and choose my moral line. I have every right to say I am going to give my money to this and I am not going to give my money to that. I am not stopping this man from writing. I am not even stopping this man for saying whatever he thinks.
So how dare you call me ignorant, because I am choosing not to waste my time on someone like this. Someone who actively hates, belittles and steps in the way of the happiness of complete strangers?
