second lockdown, day 5
Confinement day 12 : my period started, I ate an entire chocolate tablet, then decided i wanted to feel glamorously mysterious. Mysteriously glamorous? anyway, look at my hat, it’s a cool hat.
Confinement day 7: nothing to report. had tea, did some yoga, watched a movie, made myself a pocket solar system. might make pancakes again because @eligy is a terrible influence.
Confinement day 3: woke up at 4:30 am, made bread, went back to bed.
I was tagged by @astreetsussserenade to:
Select 4 things you’re doing to get through these uncertain times.
Tag your friends (if you choose!)
Pass on a virtual hug and please accept one from me!
Thank you for tagging me! Before we proceed, disclaimer : I am an introvert, a homebody, and I was allowed to go to work until Thursday, so this is only day 2 for me, basically a regular weekend.
1. This isn’t something I’ve been doing due to the circumstances but ever since I moved here: I turned my flat into a perfect little cocoon that I absolutely love to live in. HYGGE, my friends (if that’s your thing.) Make your place the most YOU possible, make it a place you love living in, whatever form it takes. If you’re going to be shut inside for the foreseeable future, make sure said inside makes you feel comfortable and safe. (That means you as well, you’re going to stay stuck with yourself for the foreseeable future! take regular showers, brush your teeth every day, and do things that make you feel good about yourself.)
2. I’ve been cooking/baking and generally making and enjoying food (see utterly decadent first attempt at making pancakes this morning) Learning how to make my own bread a few weeks ago is coming in handy ! I usually avoided preparing food because it seemed too long and not a priority, but well, we’ve got nothing but time now, right ?
3. Art ! Since the beginning of the year, it’s been painting, and I’m still doing that. Something that is both relaxing but requires focus and stimulates your brain ! Also bonus points if you end up with something tangible that you can actually see and hold in your hand! A very satisfying feeling: behold! I have made A Thing! A good way to fight the aimlessness that can come with days indoors with nothing to do.
4. Yoga ! I am not a sports person. I am not a body person period. Yoga? reminds me that I have a body! That needs to stretch and breathe and live! And when pushed, it can do pretty cool things!! And if you’re lucky you gain some flexibility and tiny muscles!! Before you all groan and roll your eyes and have traumatic flashbacks to all those skinny girls on insta who post pictures of themselves in pretzel poses like it’s easy and so cool when you can’t even touch your toes if you bend forward: i, also, could not touch my toes if I bent forward a month ago. Now I can ! I still have a big flabby butt and a tummy, but I also can do a push-up ! Baby steps, you know? Also, it makes me move and take a break for the duration of the practice, and that’s good enough. (for those interested, here’s a Youtube channel with free videos made by this girl who’s adorable and the only person I found who made me feel comfortable doing yoga at home despite having no idea what I was doing.)
Woops, this turned out longer than anticipated. Like I said, so far this isn’t quarantine, just a weekend, so no particular difference. Which is why I’m tagging @noirvidenoir, our resident quarantine veteran whom I love and support with all my heart. STAY WITH US, DARLING, and please share your wisdom on how to handle this, or go crazy in style <3 Also @reallyohcrap, how’re you doing?
Confinement day 14 : I'll be working from home starting next week!! Which is a relief (my company hasn't forgotten about me!), and stressful (my position isn't exactly work-from-home-friendly). Anyway, I cleared all the paint supplies and stuff from the dining table so it can become a makeshift home office. Also, I made bread because of course I did.
Confinement day 11 : paint a moon! doddle some fishies! start series 4 of Peaky Blinders! Don't think about the bird's nest that is your hair in the absence of hairdresser, do NOT shave your head, Karen.
Confinement day 4: guess who caught a good old common cold in the middle of a hecking pandemic?
