The Hyu-Ket of Yneslea
The Bug-Goblins of the Yneslean Archipelago, good-natured and even-tempered, the Hyu-Ket were the Goblins that followed the Velothi Exodus east past Tamriel. Once enslaved to the Echmer, they were freed by the Treaty Of Redress in 3E 4. Since that time many have returned to the surface where they once lived, rejoining the many Hyu-Ket tribes of the Archipelago. Though most have integrated into Imperial and Echmeri Colonies, as the colonies on the surface, after years of supporting only small groups, were unable to handle the influx of newly freed Hyu-Ket. It is accepted by most in the Hyu-Ket communities that most of their brothers and sisters either choose to or have to stay in the cities. While it is considered a great sadness the Hyu-Ket belief that everything that happens is fulfilling a grand purpose allows nearly all to accept this as a fact of life.
Hyu-Ket society is matriarchal. each tribe being led by a Chieftess, who is advised by the elders of the community and must serve as a direct conduit of Gol-Thek, the spirit of the Hyu-Ket. When a chieftess dies one is chosen from her living female relatives, or if none exist, one is elected by the elders.
Hyu-Ket Religion is somewhat unique, if one were to ask as Hyu-Ket how many gods there were, they would reply “Only one”, however the Hyu-Ket worship hundreds, or even thousands of spirits, all refractions and pieces of each other going back to the one progenitor spirit, their one true god. They believe themselves to be aspects of Gol-Thek, who is an aspect of Kulka, who is an aspect of P’ushi and so on. The Hyu-Ket believe that for all their pain, everything that happens is a part of the journey they most take to complete the purpose of the great cocoon that is the Mundus.
