♣ – he knew better than to think that with the surplus of people at the amusement park that the rides would not have gotten their full usage for the day but even still, against his better judgement, he nearly broke his neck to get in line for the biggest, fastest rollercoaster he could find. all had gone well. he’d gotten a good spot in line right at the front where the ride mattered most and he’d even seemed to be seated next to a woman who seemed like the type to enjoy the ride. on all fronts, he was an excited kid. the ascension was going smoothly as they climbed higher and higher to the highest drop to get things pushed into motion but clearly it was just his luck. the steady grinding of gears began to distress before it ultimately halted, the encroaching drop a breath away and yet so distant as the cars were secured not but several feet away. he thought it was just a bad joke but look at it now, it was just a sad reality.
they were stuck.
