How John and Sherlock from my WW2/Codebreaker AU Enigma might have celebrated VE-Day and the end of the war.
New work in progress: I was wondering how John and Sherlock from my WW2/Codebreaker AU Enigma might have celebrated VE-Day and the end of the war. Hope to finish the drawing by Friday.
Cover illustration and binding design as well as interior sample spreads of the book version of my WW2/Codebreaker AU Enigma.
The book contains both Enigma and Silent Night with all their original illustrations (at least one per chapter), as well as some information about my sources and research. 540 pages, full colour throughout, size 24 x 17 cm, hardcover.
The book is up for preorder now at my storenvy. Preorders will run until the beginning of April, after which the book will be printed. There will be some copies available for those who didn’t preorder, but I need some estimate how many copies to print, hence the preorders. If you’d like a copy, but can’t afford one now, please let me know. There will also be a giveaway at some point.
Yay, my Enigma books have arrived (seven large parcels!). They look stunning, better than I expected. I’m very happy, and am going to spend the weekend getting the preorders ready for shipping :).
For those who haven’t ordered their copy yet (there are about 50 left), I’m going to leave the preorder price at 22,18 US$ (about 20 Euros) for the weekend. It will go up slightly next week. You can order the book at my storenvy shop.
I’m also giving away one copy. Reblog this post and state why you should be the one to receive it. On Monday (15 April) I’ll pick the entry I consider the most deserving. If there are many good entries, the random number generator will choose.

It’s Christmas Eve 1944, and Sherlock Holmes has received his most precious gift already: after a long, dangerous deployment, Surgeon Captain John Watson of the Royal Navy has unexpectedly returned from the front. As if this weren’t enough, there’s a case. Both events make for a night full of promise, excitement, and the difficult task of getting reacquainted with the man Sherlock hasn’t seen in three years and feared he’d lost forever.
Yay, the Enigma proofs have arrived and they look good. Printing is go. I’ll leave preorders up until I’ve received the actual copies, which I expect to start shipping in about two weeks. Afterwards, the price of the remaining books will rise slightly.
First sketches for the cover illustration for the printed version of my Codebreaker/WW2 AU Enigma. I’m almost through with the edit. Only the last chapter of the original fic and the sequel Silent Night need another read through. After that it’s typesetting and general layout work, painting the cover illustration, and then getting everything ready for print.
I hope to get most of those things done during the next two weeks, after which I’m going to put up a preorder notice so that I can get an idea how many copies to actually have printed (the more ordered, the cheaper the single copy is going to be).
To those who have been waiting for the book for some time, thanks a lot for your patience.
“In the meadow”
First illustration (of two) for the last full chapter of Enigma. I’ve just sent the chapter off to my beta, meaning it’ll be some days until it’s posted. I’ve got to finish colouring the second illustration, anyway.
It’s going to be strange and rather sad having to say farewell to these two chaps in their 1940s incarnations, because they and this story have been accompanying me for almost four years. Luckily, there’s still an epilogue left to be written ...
