Hey there, I have a concern with little Dwebble again. She's still underground, and if she isn't destressing, then I read that she's probably molting. I've read that they can have bad molts (end up deformed, missing legs, etc) if they hadn't gotten the proper nutrition prior to molting. The store I got her from didn't offer them any protein or calcium or anything and I'm concerned that she wasn't with me long enough to build up sufficient amounts before she went under. How could it affect her?
In general, if a crab has a bad molt, they will probably molt again soon. So if she is molting right now and happens to have a bad molt, keep a close eye on her and make sure she gets the nutrients she needs- she'll probably stock up and molt again. This is common with crabs who have had injuries as well; if they don't managed to completely heal up with a single molt, they're likely to go back under a lot sooner than you might expect.
It's not abnormal for a crab to molt very soon after being introduced to a better environment. The most likely "problem" your crab would have from her food in the pet store is probably lack of carotene. She's much more likely to be fine than she is to have any issues other than being a little paler when she comes back up.
