nice characters! what would the others in the silver family do if one of them died :V
One of them is dead actually! And so far the general strategy of coping is “never talk about it or bring it up or find closure it n e v e r happened” and hey i mean Enyo only snapped the once for many years so it’s not working too horribly
He, of course, had to go to them. As an heir to the house of Brasseye it was expected that he go to these inane parties when he would much rather be at home with his head in a book perfecting his spells.
But here he was instead, sitting at the corner-most table with a glass of wine, setting a steady glare at the crowd. He really didn’t care for the types that came to these flagrant displays of wealth. While people in other, lesser clans, sat and starved, they drank liquor and paid for expensive music and wizards to cast pretty lights everywhere. The falsity of it was sickening. He swirled the glass with a flick of his hand, watching the lights dance in the reflection. Not like he had much else to do.
Heavy footsteps neared and the brass dragonborn lifted his head slowly, quirking his eyebrow at a familiar sight.
Enyo Silversword shot him a grin as she sat down next to him. She wore armor, as usual, and she leaned back comfortably but inappropriately in the chair, “Why am I not surprised you’re hiding in the corner?”
He gave a small chuckle and took a small sip of the alcoholic drink, allowing it to burn in the back of his throat, “Because you know I don’t enjoy these wasteful gatherings.”
“Nothing you can do from back here.” She snorted, pulling the wine bottle over from his side of the table, only earning a weak glare from him. Another grin as she took an improper sip from the bottleneck. “Fancy. Anyways. Sitting back here and wishing you were at home with your books isn’t going to make it a reality. Might as well enjoy yourself.” She quirked an eyebrow and raised the bottle a bit.
Coeus quirked an eyebrow back, and looked back to the wine in his glass. Another rolling flick, before a sigh slowly left him. He looked back into her eyes and tapped their bottles together. “Fine. What did you have in mind?”
Almost as if on queue, the songs changed and shifted gently into a peppier, light-hearted one. The Silversword grinned and quickly stood, nearly knocking the chair over. She purposefully strode over in front of the brass dragonborn, and did a mock bow, offering her arm, “May I have this dance, Brasseye?”
He glanced from his friend’s face to her outstretched arm, mentally contemplating. He bit his lip for a couple seconds, before taking her larger hand.
That classic grin returned, and she practically yanked him out of the chair and onto the dance floor in the middle of the ballroom.
Coeus’ head swam as he looked about at the other metallic dragonborn dancing. So many of them on all sides, scales shining and flickering due to the odd lighting. He took a sharp intake of breath as he whipped his head about, red eyes scanning for danger. So much input, the music bouncing through his bones and jittering through his nerves. He hated this, he hated dancing-
Large hands found his shoulders, and he looked to the source. Enyo’s grin had dropped into a concerned frown, and she rubbed his shoulder lightly with her thumb. “Are you alright…?”
“I-I…” Coeus hated it when his composure cracked. He felt weak. He tried to shove all the… input to the back of his head. “I-I-”
“Just focus on me.” She instructed gently, calmly. Ocean eyes bore into him, into his soul, and he found he couldn’t look away. “Good. Do you know how to swing dance, Coeus?”
“I’ve heard of it.” He answered honestly, subconsciously placing a hand on top of one of Enyo’s for a tad more comfort, “I’ve never done it before.”
A soft smile, “Let me show you.” Slipping her hands off his shoulders, and taking his in her own and squeezing. Softly. She knew her strength. She moved apart from him, so they were arms length, “You start by pulling your arms apart, and stepping to the side with your inner foot and to the left.” Words and her weren’t exactly friends. “Like… this.” She stepped, pulling them close so their shoulders touched. Well, would have if they were closer in height. She moved back apart, “See?”
Coeus slowly nodded, staring down at their feet as he hesitantly copied the move, pulling the two of them together again, both stepping in time. He could feel her breathe and he looked up at her once again, eyes locking together almost in perfect sync. Pull apart again, and he found himself missing the… closeness. Another step, and they were touching, shoulder to shoulder, chests brushing.
“You’re getting it now!” It was difficult to tell if she was under the same… spell he felt he was under. She smiled proudly, “Now we can mix it up. Like spinning?”
“What do you me-” He was cut off as his arm was suddenly above his head and he was sent into a spin. The world spun around him, lights blurred and he was going to be sick-
Strong arms caught him before he could pitch to the ground, and he clung onto his friend, wheezing and trembling. “Do NOT do that again.” He rumbled as he regained his footing, leaning onto her some and looking up at her.
The look of concern was replaced by the usual smile and chuckle, “Noted. You alright?”
“I’m fine…” He took a small breather before he pushed off of her chest, still keeping a hold of her arms, “Warning would be nice.”
“Gotcha.” She chuckled, and looked towards the band as the song transitioned again. Peppy light music turning to a slower, deeper theme.
Coeus tugged Enyo’s arm before she could even think about leaving the dance floor. He grinned his own grin as he set her hands on his shoulders, and he rested his own on her hips. “You nearly killed me with your dance. My turn.”
The warrior’s eyes widened at the sudden… forward action, “Alright, what are we doing then?”
“Slow dancing.” Coeus replied simply.
“Maybe we shouldn’t…” Enyo cast a glance around at the other dragonborn surrounding them, focusing on their own dancing.
Coeus gave a look around as well, shooting small glares at any of the particularly nasty looks shot their way. “Don’t worry about them. It’s just a dance.” He caught Enyo’s hands before they could drop again, setting them back on his shoulders, “Keep them here.”
She looked at her hands, then his hands, then into his eyes, “…Now what?” Hesitant, she tried to keep her eyes locked on him.
Her gaze was a bit too intense for him, and he found himself looking back to her waist. He could feel his face burning at the intensity of her gaze, and he swallowed the rather sudden lump in his throat. “We step in a square. Backwards, left, forwards, right…” She stepped in sync with him as they completed the square, repeating it again.
He… tugged her closer and looked back into her eyes, “Closer. More relaxed. You’re not trying to strangle me.” Small chuckle as she carefully pulled her a step closer by the waist. “At least, try not to strangle me.”
“Got it~” She chuckled a bit as well, and continued to step with him, eyes locked onto him. Her cheeks were flushed a little. The dancefloor was warm… wasn’t it?
Closer, their chests brushed as the song slowed further. Their breathing picked up, eyes locked…
It felt like something set off in his chest when their muzzles finally touched, and all of the air left him at once. It was electric, perfection, the best goddamn thing he had felt in his life. His eyes closed and he pressed a bit more into it, chasing the intoxicating feeling. His heart thrummed, body pulsed like a drum.
She was the one to break it, and if the dazed look and grin said anything, she had definitely enjoyed it too. However, she gave a small glance around the room, frowning at the sudden glares cast their way.
He leaned up and pressed another nuzzle, smaller. “Let them watch.” He mumbled.
Her hands dropped from his shoulders to his sides, and she slowly gave a small nod, “All you can do.”
Sometimes I look into myself and go, should I really make a post about this? Do people want to be burdened by this knowle If Eleos was a furry she'd be one of those large gray ones and Coeus would be one of the smaller Timber wolves and Alecto would have the body type of a Timber but the colorings of a gray one
