Dating back to the 10th century, legend tells us the coffee was discovered by an Ethiopian goat herder named Kaldi, who noticed his goats started to “dance” after eating berries from a certain tree. Kaldi reported his findings to a local monk, who made a drink with the berries and found that it kept him awake and vigilant through the long hours of evening prayer.
