As a way to push back against the enslopification of everything, I’m spending 2026 appreciating human art. Currently on a binge of the oeuvre of Anthony Minghella.
There’s this sensuous dream-like quality to his films that almost feel like they are happening inside a memory. His style reminds me a little of Sofia Coppola- that same hazy dreaminess and focus on the interiority of their characters (but he has a focus on guilt/grief and the aftermath of grand, sweeping stories whereas she explores gilded cages).
