As someone who's never been very good at fitting molds or prescribed boxes, I've always loved stories that champion embracing those who are unlike us, particularly when they do so by emphasizing objective strengths and positives rather than just "having compassion for the other". Morag Hood's lovely, easygoing "Colin and Lee, Carrot and Pea" (2016) (also published under the title "Carrot and Pea: An Unlikely Friendship") is exactly that sort of story that I love. In a group of pea friends who are all alike, Colin the Carrot couldn't possibly be more different. But his lanky shape allows him to do and be things that the peas cannot, and that just enhances EVERYONE'S fun! A wonderful tale of embracing the unfamiliar in the name of friendship. ♥ ⚫ ⚫ ⚫ #noodlenutskidsbooks #colinandleecarrotandpea #colinandlee #carrotandpea #moraghood #peasandcarrots #carrotsandpeas #vegetablefriends #unlikelyfriends #unlikelyfriendships #oddoneout #friendship #preschool #socialemotionaldevelopment #sociallearning #storytime #readingbooks #preschoolteachers https://www.instagram.com/p/B8ULjVGHKvV/?igshid=5hin09sg380e
