“Finally!” Rory exclaimed, too excited for the book in her hand. She had been hunting for the damn thing for weeks but it had gone out of print and her only hope were small independent bookstores like these. With her mission accomplished, she proudly carried the book to the counter, placing it firmly on the table to check it out.
“I’ve never seen a vampire work in a book store before, you must have read everything in here,” she commented to the clerk. The rest of the store was empty aside from them so she figured it wouldn’t hurt to be straightforward. “That’s what I would do with eternal life—just read in between my blood drinking breaks,” she joked. Rory pushed up her magical glasses and grinned. Vampires didn’t take offence to blood drinking jokes, right?
