Published within In Powder and Crinoline, sub-titled “Old Fairy Tales Retold by Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch”, in 1913. This fine watercolour was originally reproduced opposite page 52 and is one of the 26 colour plates. The illustration accompanies the tale of “Felicia or The Pot of Pinks”. The verse is as follows: “List, ah, list to the zephyr in the grove! / Where beneath the happy boughs / Flora builds her summerhouse / Whist! ah, whist while the cushat tells his love”. (x)

The Original Watercolor Paintings by John James Audubon for the Birds of America
American Heritage publishing, 1966. Published in conjunction with the New York Historical Society.
Two magnificent volumes containing full-page (and several double-page) plates of all 431 watercolors submitted by Audubon to the printers. Fine in brown cloth.
Two Folio volumes, marbled slipcase (next to regular sized hardback for comparison). First edition. Not a lot of these about, apparently. The fact that I got mine for $35 is a Steal, and well below market value: perk of working in a good used bookstore that doesn't chase every last nickel, and has a generous employee discount.
Score. ;)
i see that i have been in the shadow world for awhile,
but at least by the end of next week i got a panty & stocking art for yall with a different color plate i thought of
