It was a lazy Sunday afternoon and officially the first Sunday they were spending together as a couple, not that Courfeyrac was counting or anything. When he and Combeferre had finally figured out their shit and gotten together a week prior, it was simultaneously a wave of relief and a nervous buzz of excitement.

Courfeyrac was still buzzing, despite doing the barest minimum of lazing on Combeferre’s couch and watering his flowers in animal crossing as Combeferre had departed for a moment to bring back snacks. 

“Here you go, honey?” Combeferre said handing him a cookie, and it was evident the moment the word left his mouth he regretted it. “I’m sorry, I’m new at this.”

“You can call me honey, honey.”Courfeyrac said with a giggle. “I’m sweet enough that it fits.”

“No, it doesn’t feel right on my tongue.” Combeferre said frowning and taking his seat next to him, Courfeyrac had scooched over to his side almost the moment he had planted himself down. 

“Well I know something that will feel right on it.” Courfeyrac teased with a wink making Combeferre’s cheeks a dark shade of red. “Baby.” Courfeyrac added with dramatised sugary sweetness. 

“I don’t think I’m suited to pet names.” Combeferre said uncertainly. “They don’t really come naturally too me.”

“No, no!”  Courfeyrac said looking horrified. “That’s unacceptable, I refuse to not be sent into a lovey dovey spiral by hearing you call me....” He paused thinking of the right word. “Beloved?”

“Absolutely not.” 

“Well, we can keep trying. I refuse to stop until we’ve found the perfect pet name that doesn’t make you squirm and scrunch up your face. Not that it isn’t a cute look for you dearest.”

“It’s going to be a long night.” Combeferre said with a chuckle placing a soft kiss on Courfeyrac’s head. 

“It’s going to be a long night, hot stuff.” Courfeyrac corrected. Eliciting the first of many more groans to be had in the ensuing evening.

Christmas break usually means family, food and festive cheer. For Combeferre, it's a quiet week at home enjoying the company of good books and occasionally skyping with Enjolras.
