mmm, I agree about Moriarty not having anything after ruining Sherlock but I wish he was given more screen time! I just hope they don’t introduce a random guy like I’m the new villain, mwa ha! I take my villains too seriously.
every single word moriarty uttered was GOLDEN gosh i know i wish he got more screen time too. their conversations? his FACIAL EXPRESSIONS? one of my fav things he does is turn about and look at john with his little OOPS face at the trail and john's just like "YOU LIL SNAKE." so here's my thoughts: i thinK that MAYBE gatiss/thompson/moffatt will invent their own criminal :O because, they could probably do charles augustus milverton (who is another biggie in the books but he's only in one story, the six napoleons) but like idk if they're trying to stay away from small fish? they might want to make another big epic criminal to tie the 3rd series together? OOOR they might expand CAM. i can't tell.
side track: wait before i get side tracked nicole r u spoiler free or not about s3??? bc i have something to say but it's spoilery
Since you're speculating s3 anyway, I've been debating whether Moriarty is actually dead. I know it looked like he died, but it also looked like Sherlock died and I just don't know what they're going to do without a villain like Moriarty to equal Sherlock. I also haven't really read that many of the original sherlock stories so idk but am I alone in thinking this?
so i went and looked for this one article i found once — couldn’t find it, but basically it was mark gatiss saying that they really wanted to move ahead with some ~fresh~ criminals, to change it up a bit. that’s probably the most empirical bit of evidence that moriarty is dead.
honestly, he could still be alive? because he was just as genius as sherlock, and he really /should’ve/ anticipated the fact that sherlock would figure it out. i mean, moriarty even gave sherlock /clues/ about what was going to happen. and the fact that sherlock planned to meet him on the roof could’ve revealed that sherlock /knew./ the thing is, i believe moriarty is actually dead because he simply seemed so /tired/ of life. he didn’t really have the same joy in crime that sherlock had in discovering murderers and whatnot… i once read some brilliant tags about the ennui of jim and goooooooooosh they were good. it just makes a lot of sense that he actually killed himself - it demonstrates how crazy he really was?
also i’ve read around 60% of all the canon sh stories and moriarty is truly dead - he went over the reichenbach falls, he never came back… and even though i’m REALLY upset about that bc I ADORE MORIARTY IN THE BBC VERSION AHHHH <3 i think that maybe it’s better to move on? get it to be different? just imagine how nice it will be to have ~new characters
EDIT: THOUGHT OF A NEW THING -- also moriarty didn't really /CARE/ about anything except sherlock - and i think he sort of saw how he couldn't really get to sherlock? but he knew that he could at least destroy sherlock's relationship with john/lestrade/mrs. hudson? i mean, after he beat him, what was there to live for?
(WATCH I AM WRONG *CACKLES INSANELY* YOU JUST CAN’T TELL)
(I AM SORRY I SOUND RIDICULOUS TONIGHT BUT IT’S BEEN A WEIRD WEEK)
I didn't know Stardust was a book when I saw it either. Neil Gaiman wrote it, originally, but by the time I read it I was already in love with the movie version, so I didn't appreciate the differences in the book as much. But yeah, The Count of Monte Cristo is a funny story, because I saw the first half of the movie on TV, thought it was great, read the book, and then finished be movie, only to find that the movie ending was completely different in all the wrong ways. le sigh
Neil Gaiman! Fun fact: I’ve never read any of his books — he’s like this distant star that I admire and that everyone seems to be familiar with but I have no experience (need to change that). (I want to read Neverwhere? Because Cumberbatch is in a new radio version of it…and it seems really cool) I’ve only seen the movie version of Monte Cristo too and it seemed pretty dramatic. I don’t understand major changes in film adaptations. I understand omissions and sequences that compact the narrative but just….WHO GAVE THEM THE RIGHT

:( I know, I almost cried when I realized all my bookmarks were gone and that tags don’t carry on when you reblog anymore.
Your bookmarks disappeared? That's strange cause I don't think mine did. It really is so annoying though. I have another extension that has some of Missing E's features (like the tag carry on add and timestamps) but not all of them. It's called Xkit if you are interested though. It has some great extensions.

Its one of those moments where God wont be ridiculed so he does something big to demonstrate his power. Im not feeling the same oomph that anon did but I guess God reveals scripture to some people differently than to others
Thanks!
Here ya go, anon!
