That realization
When you realize that the bullshit critique you got months ago is still fucking with your mind to where drawing just seems like a fruitless and impossible task.
Making things clearer, I'm not someone who is all 'oh boo critique everything I do is perfect' but when you have a review that basically says 'this author is terrible and the comic is shit I hope this gets burned to the ground' and you KNOW that it's BS and obviously not read the entire way, yet still seem to take it way too much to heart that drawing and writing comics almost becomes an anxiety-producing activity.
I mean I am taking the few bits of good points the reviewer brought up and using that to help better my drawing technique, but it doesn't quite work when you are staring at a blank piece of paper with an idea in your head but just can't get it out because 'oh my god, what if this comic is really terrible'.
I don't know if I'm still overreacting or over-rationalizing or what, but this has been kind of in my craw for way too long and I really want to be able to draw things again without being afraid. The things I want to to draw. The stupid shit I think is funny. Because it's something I love to do but can never tell if people like or hate it if they even care at all.
Did I improve? Did I somehow get worse? What are the awesome parts? Which parts suck? Which are amazing? Which should be cast into comic strip hell? Any sort of feedback, good or bad (so long as it's critique), is welcome and needed.
