Touched by Madness: Lucien & Sal
With the power negation, the Nephilim, and Summer having left once her chip was removed Lucien was on pins and needles. Quinn and his research and development of a new meta was too far from completion and that meant Sal was a sitting target. He’d thought to go rogue, but decided to write a long and elaborate plea to CARMA on why he should be allowed to enhance the commander for CARMA. He had no care for any other’s in the facility other than Sal. Especially since they’d patched things up to a degree. They still had issues and likely always would, but were working through them.
He’d gotten approval from CARMA to go forward with his enhancement of the commander. As he’d done everything else behind the man’s back so he decided to keep the truth from the commander. Sal would never agree to it. No matter what Lucien’s reasons were. He’d say he worried too much like he always did. Lucien had to worry that much because Sal seemed to not worry at all or if he did it was about everyone, but himself.
Looking over at the man’s sleeping profile he thought over his actions and felt justified. Sal would never protect himself. He’d never agree to being protected and he needed protection. At least until Quinn and his second meta was completed. Then he could program him to protect those important to him, like Sal and Summer. Of course Lucien was just as bad at forgetting about himself, but for the opposite reason. It was because he worried so much for everyone else that he forgot to worry for himself.
It was Quinn’s super soldier serum he was using, though modified to bring out enhancements. He wouldn’t be a meta, but would have enhanced combat abilities. It would make it easier to fight off meta’s when they attacked and they would attack him eventually, not to mention he had little trust in the metasquad to keep Sal safe. Only he could keep Sal safe he reminded himself as he sat up in the bed and reached into the drawer pulling out the injection gun that also had a sedative in it that would put Sal back to sleep for at least another ten minutes and make him forget he was injected. In theory that should be what happened. He’d find out shortly if it worked or not.
Sal stirred when injected eyes widening, narrowing, then closing once more as his hand moved to his neck. Lucien replaced the hand down once the man was back to sleep. The injection site was barely noticeable and he put the empty vile and injection gun back into his drawer and moved closer to snuggle into the commander feigning sleep until he felt the man stir.
“There is still five minutes until the alarm...” He said in a sleep filled voice hugging the Commander tighter. He needed more sedative that was for sure. It only lasted five minutes barely enough time for Lucien to put things back to normal especially himself. “..go back to sleep Sal.”
