Sowing the Seeds of Love - Tears for Fears (1989)
Fanfare for the Common Man
Back during World War II, an American orchestra commissioned a series of fanfares for the trumpets and other brass to 'wake up' the orchestra and the audience and signal the start of the show. Of the fourteen or so fanfares they composed for patriotic reasons, only one has made it into the common repertoire. It's a banger: Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man.
It would be sending a significant message to certain powers that be if we all arranged to play it at some significant times throughout the day, using our Spotify accounts. It's not like you can decide to prevent the playing of a particular piece of patriotic American music, right?
But it is also a piece of music celebrating what makes America, American: the commonality that we share that we must fight and achieve victory over the Nazis.
