If you know me, and if you know me well, you know that I have a love for caffeine. Specifically for coffee.
I started drinking coffee in college. I never understood the hype until I had my first cup of coffee that one sleep-deprived, stressed-over-art-plates, didn’t-know-what-was-going-on-night. (I’ve had Starbucks drinks before, but I never considered those as ‘legit’ coffee)
My obsession for artisan coffee started late 2013; I had stumbled upon a café and looking at the menu as if it were written in a different language, I made a random choice and nothing has ever been the same since then.
I found out about Commune Café while I was slightly lost in Makati City one afternoon, the giant wooden high-table is what automatically caught my eye. During that time I was in a cabin-feel phase — and I’ve been telling my friends about “this cafe that I saw that we should definitely go to someday” but no one’s schedule aligned with mine and it came to a point that I completely forgot about it.
UNTIL ONE SUNDAY AFTERNOON! A good friend of mine had called me up in the morning asking if I wanted to go to an event called Art In The Park, I wasn’t doing much so I agreed to go. She had also mentioned that she wanted to take me to a cafe she had found while being lost in the city as well. Right then and there, I knew I had to go with her. I had to go whatever cafe that was, because hello, coffee. Duh!
On the way to the cafe, the streets started to become familiar to me, and the caffeine-lover in me was starting to go mental (in the best way possible)! When we turned a corner and I saw the building I knew I had seen before I immediately yelled to my friend “THAT’S THE CAFE I’VE BEEN TELL YOU ABOUT!” and sort of ran towards the café like a moth to a flame. Haha
It was actually the most perfect day to be at Commune, though packed, it was gloomy and cold outside, and with my giant mug of coffee and my friend’s adorable cup of hot chocolate it felt like we were in a Tumblr photo. My listening to dance music didn’t really help set the mood I was imagining though. Whoops!
I haven’t gotten to try any of their food yet but based on what I have tried, I am definitely going back. If not for the coffee but for their perfect location. It’s on a corner, with not that many people passing by, the giant windows, and that massively high wooden table; the ambiance was perfect.
If you love coffee, giant wooden high-tables, and exploring new places I highly suggest you take a trip to Commune Café. They’re located at 102 H.V. Dela Costa Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City.
