What’s holding you back? Whether you’re facing a lack of growth or progress in sobriety, your career, relationships, or mental stability it can be super frustrating to feel stuck. Even worse than feeling stuck, I know that sometimes I feel like I have to fight and struggle to meet any goal I set for myself. In the past I have used this frustration as an excuse to drink, wallow in self pity, or fall into a cycle of defeatism. Today, in sobriety, I can look at myself and my life a little more honestly. I can genuinely ask myself: ~What can I do differently? ~Is there more I can be doing? ~Where is my focus at? ~Am I making excuses? ~What can I control in this situation? ~Am I practicing acceptance where it’s needed? More often than not the reality is I want the most results from bare minimum effort. Which to be fair is only human I think. So rather than beating myself up, I step up and start putting the work in. Often times we’re our own worst critic, but that doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. We know ourselves better than anyone else, so let’s use that to our advantage for once!
