Thanks to @gutterballgt and @phoenix-angel-suyari for comments on my cosplay! I wore it all last weekend at the con, and even though no one guessed that I was Mina Harker, I got a lot of compliments on it.
Mina was a lot of work, but the costume was no trouble at all to actually wear, even in summer. Wearing shorts underneath and wielding a +5 fan of cooling was enough. The contacts were freaky and really comfortable, A+ all around.
I have some pictures, but I’m mostly looking for a good picture online of the Orc family from WoW, who blew everyone else away with green skin, pauldrons made from fake taxidermied bear heads, fangs made from dental material, and in Mom’s case, about 5 feet of braids. They were AMAZING.
There were SO many Harley Quinns. Many were terrible. One, who went into the costume contest as “The BEST Harley Quinn” was actually pretty cringey.
There were lots of good to great X-men, but the best was a short, muscular guy with claws, a cigar, and a fair amount of hair gel playing Wolverine. Minimum costume, best effect.
There were a lot of Buckys, perhaps in honor of Sebastian Stan being there, and they were most often good. The genderswapped Bucky wearing a Cap shirt was adorable.
There was a Big Boss who was picture perfect. A random dude came up and started arguing whether one part of his web gear was authentic to the Vietnam War era (?) and the Boss just stared at him before walking away. Nerds, man.
I had a great time, even though my car got scraped down one side by someone in the parking garage. Looks like it’s mostly paint, but still... Morons.
